{"id":42,"date":"2012-05-01T03:26:50","date_gmt":"2012-05-01T03:26:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newcyberian.com\/blog\/?p=42"},"modified":"2021-11-18T21:57:13","modified_gmt":"2021-11-18T21:57:13","slug":"ddp-or-redbook-for-cd-replication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newcyberian.com\/blog\/2012\/05\/01\/ddp-or-redbook-for-cd-replication\/","title":{"rendered":"DDP or Redbook for CD replication?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This question is occasionally\u00a0raised by mastering houses whether it is better to submit the master in DDP format or in Redbook CD format. \u00a0The answer is: either way, the result will be the same.<\/p>\n<p>DDP is the\u00a0acronym for Disc Description Protocol. \u00a0It is the native format used by many types of equipment in the disc replication industry. \u00a0According to Wikipedia, DDP is a format for specifying the content of optical discs, including CDs and DVDs. \u00a0It is commonly used for the delivery of disc masters for duplication.<\/p>\n<p>Some replicators, especially many brokers, will refuse to accept DDP format because they don&#8217;t have the equipment to reverse the DDP to a physical copy. \u00a0These replicators will only accept Redbook CD as master. \u00a0Well, there is nothing wrong with that because by its digital nature a copy of a Redbook CD should be exactly the same as the master.
