Mini CD’s are compact discs with a smaller form factor. They are 80mm discs that can hold up to 21 minutes of music, or 185MB of data. They are sometimes referred to as Maxi CD in certain countries.
In terms of usage, Mini CD is the middle ground between regular size and business card CD’s. With 185MB it’s big enough for most data storage purposes and small enough to be distributed conveniently. If your like the idea of business card sized CD but the content exceeds 50MB, Mini CD would be the best alternative. Mini CD is still small enough for you to put it in a regular envelop for mailing.

Warning: Mini CD’s CANNOT be used in most slit-loading devices such as car stereo and some iMacs. But on most tray-loading CD devices there are two "wells"; one sized for a normal CD, and a smaller, deeper well for Mini CD’s. CD devices that feature an opening lid have no problem with Mini CD’s, as the disc can simply be placed onto the spindle such as a normal CD.
